Hand cast airgun pellets?
« on: October 30, 2006, 12:46:54 pm »

Folks,

Has anyone considered hand casting pellets for airguns?  I can see from Vlad's posts that
an airgun has a place for small game, particularly when noise is an issue. If you were to
make your own molds, you wouldn't necessarily have to make the pellets just like the
factor pellets. How about a 'Miniball' in .177 or .25 caliber?

(edit in)
After thinking about this a bit more, maybe pressing/forging might make more sense.

It can be done.  Check the bottom of the page.  I have no idea where to find this "McGuire pellet mold" he mentions, but I'm only skimming google results, so...

You could probably make a passable mold out of RTV rubber.
